Closing Your Car Sale
There have been a number of incidents where all is going well and suddenly something goes wrong or things just do not work out and the deal which has been progressing for so long is dropped out of nowhere. There are some key points provided below which will help you close deals with new customers specially. As a salesperson, you should keep in mind a few key points that will help you deal with customers and cope up with them.
No Perfect Scenarios
First thing that you need to know is that there are no perfect scenarios, no ideal situation and smooth sailing in car selling. You have to be mentally prepared for certain situations which are not very likely to go your way every time you are dealing with a different customer. And with experience you will acknowledge that you have to react how a customer is behaving with you and you can not pre plan everything and hope for it to be as you thought it would be. Mental stability in warm waters is a massive strength.
You obviously know exactly what you are thinking. Try to think from a customer’s perspective and relate to him/her. This will not only help you in dealing with them if they are interested but also help you to know if they are the right buyers or not. Keeping an open mind and giving mutual respect can solve a lot of problems and can make you learn a lot. Every person has a different opinion, perception and no one can ever think the same way every step of the way. You can respect your customer by understanding the fact that they do not buy a car everyday and they are scared for themselves and basically their money, if it is going in the right place or not. Understanding this will provide you with a deeper understanding of how to close a deal with them.
Haste makes Waste
Never try to force a deal. Trying to strike a deal as quickly as possible can have its own downsides. Always take the deal steady by focusing every step of the way and accessing the situation keenly. And keeping the dealings slow might also get you better offers in between which you might miss in a hurry.
Be Straight Forward
Yes, you care about the customer which you always should but never be intimidated by them or fall for anything of that sort. If you do not agree with something for which you have your reasons, you don’t have to go for it necessarily. You keep your terms simple and it will help both you and a genuine customer.
Show Desire to Sell
A customer should be able to see in you and the way you approach them that you do not just want to sell this car to make a buck for yourself but also that it can be of use and be beneficial to someone else at the right price. The customer should know if they take the product home, they will not be disappointed in any way and you know that. Which is why you are trying to make everyone’s lives better.
A test drive is a crucial part of the deal. Keep the customer engaged in relevancy with the vehicle. Try to close the deal in a test drive. Test drive is the phase where the customer with imagine being the owner of the car and how will it feel like. Try to convince the customer in that phase of the deal. Make him understand how beneficial it will be for him and how right he is if he owns the car.
Be Confident and Calm
Throughout the deal you need to be full of self confidence and also in the right state of mind. You do not need to overreact in any sort of situation and try to understand it both from your side and the customer’s. This will help you greatly in knowing how you should carry the deal forward or if you should or should not carry the deal forward.
Keep the Customer Happy
A customer usually knows exactly what he/she wants and have done their homework before coming to you. As far as they are content with you, and agree with the product, they will most likely make the purchase. Be open to them, try to help them in the best possible way that you can and gain their trust. Know their budget and help them in buying. Even if they are not ready to make a purchase, exchange contacts and let them know if something comes up and that will suit them or if a better offer does not arrive, you would be willing to consider their offer. These are some ground rules which will help you in closing a good car deal and these do not necessarily just apply to cars but also if you are selling other products. In reality you always keep learning while dealing with new customers every day and can add to your experience through those learnings.
